Environment - Protecting Air and Water

Protecting Surface Water

Continuous improvement of water management is the highest environmental priority of JSP. A detailed analysis of water needs and uses throughout the manufacturing process are performed to minimize water consumption and decrease emissions into water.

Protecting the Air

By using clean energies in the manufacturing of ARPRO® EPP, such as electricity and natural gas, the only emissions of the manufacturing sites into the air are water vapor and carbon dioxide (CO2). In order to limit emissions of greenhouse gases, JSP optimizes its processes, in particular by improving the energy efficiency of boilers.

ARPRO® EPP (expanded polypropylene) is produced without ozone depleting substances. No CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons) or HCFCs (hydrochlorofluorocarbons) are used. ARPRO® is not produced with butane or pentane, which are commonly used for the expansion of plastics, and which do contain VOCs and thus contribute to ozone depletion. CO2 has less impact on the environment than these two gases, in terms of greenhouse effect.

Finally, the carbon dioxide used to manufacture ARPRO® EPP is a by-product of chemical processes such as fertilizer production. It is not a gas coming from oil refining, with an energy potential.
