JSP products can be used in building material applications as viable replacements for fiberglass, polystyrene, cork, rubber and other plastics.

Applications such as sports underlayment help overcome some of the negative properties of existing materials, such as moisture trapping and fiber release. Common construction industry appliances such as boilers, pumps, motors and heat exchangers use JSP products for integral casings providing thermal insulation in combination with properties such as light weight, structural strength, energy absorption, acoustic insulation and design flexibility.

Insulation Materials for Housing

MIRAFOAM^™ is employed as a construction material for insulation, waterproofing and the prevention of moisture condensation in building walls, roofs, floors and tatami mats. Furthermore, JSP is developing external insulation installation methods that allow air to flow naturally for a more comfortable living environment.
Drainage

MIRADRAIN^™, porous expanded polypropylene, and STYRODRAIN^™, porous expanded polystyrene, are used for drainage purposes such as underlayment of sports filed, golf courses, gardens, etc., in combination with properties such as light weight, structural strength, energy absorption, acoustic insulation and design flexibility. Porous ARPRO^®/P-BLOCK^™ is also used for same application.
Lightweight Embankments

Expanded polystyrene block, STYRODIA^®BLOCK, is employed as a civil-engineering material for lightweight embankment to improve soft foundation and prevent ground sinkage and landslides. This block has excellent cushioning property and compressive strength in combination with water resistance and flame resistance.
Noise Absorption

NOISESORBER^™, porous expanded polypropylene (ARPRO^®/P-BLOCK^™), is used as noise reduction and vibration-proof material. The lightweight panels ease the construction, installation and displacement. SUPERFOAM^™ is applied for automotive air-conditioning duct due to the noise absorption with lightweight, thermal insulation, strength and recyclability. Other foamed plastics with closed cells have also acoustic insulation.
